WHO: All birders are welcome! Come for the whole weekend or join us for Satuday, only. See attached registration form. Those registered will receive more detailed information before the weekend.
WHAT: ASM has agreements with DNR and MDC to collect and record birding data for state parks and conservation areas. Annual renewals of these agreements include target sites for special attention. This birding weekend provides an opportunity for birders to share the fun as we focus on a few of these target sites, birding in small teams.
WHERE: We will be based at Washington SP in Washington County. We’ll also bird Meramec SP and Indian Creek CA. Folks are encouraged to bird Bennett Spring SP, Babler SP, or Sam A. Baker SP if it is on the way to/from the weekend site.
LODGING: There are several options
1. ASM has reserved a large cabin (maximum 12 people); some will have beds,
some may bring sleeping bags.
There will be a per person charge.
2. There are other, one and two-bedroom cabins available (reserve and pay for these on your own).
3. There is a good B & B in DeSoto.
4. There are motels less than 30 miles from the parks.
FOOD: Of course all are free do do as they please, but the following options are available to all who are participating, regardless of where lodging. Chief chefs are June Newman and Jerry Wade.
Friday Supper--Cost $5.00, two entrees, salad, veggies, at Washington SP big cabin. If you’d like to bring something to supplement, please do! (A Texas Sheet cake has been promised).
Saturday Breakfast--Cost $3.00, eggs, bacon, toast & jelly, 2% milk. If this doesn’t work for you, bring your own. We’ll have a refrigerator.
Saturday Lunch--On your own, at a cafe, Subway-type place, or brown bag.
Saturday Supper--Same deal as Friday, but different food.
Sunday Breakfast--same as Saturday. |
